Following the N5 billion palliative assigned to each state by the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal across the country, there have been several complaints from Nigerians.

In a viral video, a resident of Oshodi LGA raised concerns about the content of the palliative been shared which she finds insulting.

The box which had a picture of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Local Government Chairman, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede, contained cup of rice, beans, a bottle of vegetable oil and a sachet of tomato paste.

Disappointed at the content distributed by the state government, the lady noted that this palliative could only last for a week and for a family, maybe days.

Reacting to the viral video, several Nigerians wonder if this was the palliative the Tinubu government planned for the citizens.

Below are some comments from Twitter;

@DirectorYung: I dey live for Oshodi ooooh and I never see am abi them select family to share am?

@Capitaano: I am quite uncertain what scares & irks me more. That on one hand these fellows may actually believe they are doing superbly, thus truly bereft of ideas, and on the other just having a laugh while "smiling to bank" at our collective expense.

@ATTITUDE_OLOWO: They even used as a campaign material for next election!

@KobinnaA: Did they deliver them to households with GPS? I would be disappointed if they did not use GPS.

#RenewedShege is here. All are welcome. Elections and support for rigging have consequences.

@mastermixoffice: Wow agbado are living large o

@ChuksEricE: Renewed Shege

@malachi310A: The success of palliative measures depends on their efficiency, targeting, and ability to alleviate the burden on those most affected by the removal of subsidies. Here it’s going to fail woefully because of corruption endemic in the system from Aso Rock to Wards.

@Dmxyz_: They tried. People who voted bad government are not hungry

@FineAyozie: I wish I can get hold of the video of ogba sharing, it was very embarrassing, those who hid COVID palliative cannot do anything different. CRIMINALITY is the bedrock of APC. CHAI

@VubacosmsVic: This is so pathetic, primitive, and very condescending.

How is this a well-thought-out plan that will have a long-lasting cushioning effect on mitigating the deliberate and malicious hardship inflicted on Nigerians by the career criminal impostor?

@HansyIam: Yeye people. Carton and printing for mere sachets of food...just to embezzle the same money meant for the poor. Judiciary must save Nigeria urgently.

@ifeanyiokoye04: Someone confidently told me , they’re selling palliatives at Agege. It was 4k per bag. SMH

@BOGbadams: This is what Oshodi LGA shared to each household as palliative as part of the ₦5b sent to each state by Prezzdent "Bola Ahmed Tinubu" under his Subsidy Withdrawal Palliative scheme.

Unfortunately for Nigerians, you're now seeing how completely bereft of ideas the usurper is. When this finishes in about a week, what next?

To receive that much in palliative funds and then reduce the process to simply sharing cash and food instead of creating sustainable policies and interventions that are more enduring and valuable is EXACTLY typical of the basic mindset of Bùlábà and his team.

Nothing to boost production of anything, no policy initiatives targeted at providing long, medium or short-term succour for any sectors. Nothing targeted at dropping the overall cost of food through increased production. No infrastructure intervention to drop the cost of transportation. Just the usual primitive SHARE-THE-MONEY system that has never solved any problems.

Nigerians are in for a long hard ride, unless the judiciary do the right thing at the right time."
