Raymond Dokpesi, AIT founder is dead

Founder of Daar Communications Plc, High Chief (Dr) Raymond Dokpesi is dead.

In a statement by his son, Raymond Dokpesi(Jnr), he disclosed that the media mogul and politician passed on this morning in Abuja after a brief illness.

Aged 71, High Chief Dokpesi pioneered private broadcasting in Nigeria and was until his demise a stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).

As at the time the African Independent Television (AIT) was founded in 1997, it was the first private television station in Nigeria.
