United Nation has been told to declare EndSARS protest as a revolution

A coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has told the United Nation (UN) to flag the recently held EndSARS protest as a "violent insurrection" against a democratically elected government of Nigerian state.

Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, chairman of the group, made this controversial demand on Monday, November 9, in Abuja as the specks of dust from the EndSARS protest are winding down.

The coalition also appealed to the global body to ensure that groups, organizations and individuals supporting the protest are sanctioned appropriately.

“We call on the UN to impression Nigeria’s international partners, particularly, the UK, USA, France, Germany, Israel and Canada to forbid their territories from being used by a terror group as platforms to incite and instigate war in Nigeria.

“We call on the United Nations to consider the above-stated facts and urgently condemn the latest coordinated attack and killing of northerners and take steps to ensure appropriate redress and reparations for victims.

“We demand the United Nations to pronounce the #EndSARS protests as a violent insurrection against the Nigerian state and to hold all persons, groups or governments that insist on justifying them responsible by imposing necessary international sanctions on them."

Meanwhile, the United Nations called on the Nigerian government to ensure that they engage the young people in order to foil another protest in the country.

In the same vein, Ahmed Lawan, Senate president, warned that another EndSARS protest might be underway if the federal government failed to address the demand of the protesters and provide employment for the teeming legion of Nigerian youths.

The Senate president issued this strong warning on Monday, November 9, during the budget defense session of the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the senior lawmaker who doubles as the president of the 9th National Assembly, poverty reduction, food security and appreciable living standards of Nigerians must also be the paramount target of the leaders now that protest is over.
