Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), hosted a key chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his private residence in Abuja on Sunday, August 6.

Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, the former secretary to the government of the federation and a PDP leader, had a discussion with Ganduje on Sunday.

Still, the details of their meeting were not disclosed, Daily Trust reported.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the former Senate President said he had come to pay a courtesy visit to President Tinubu and congratulate him for his inauguration as the 16th successful President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

While noting that the visit was a great honour, Anyim said he had visited President to congratulate him on his bold steps so far.

He said: "We had a whole lot of heart-to-heart discussions, but primarily, it’s to congratulate him.”

Since he was sworn in as the 16th President of Nigeria, President Tinubu has called for a unity government and has nominated members of the opposition party into his cabinet.

On the other side, Ganduje was unanimously elected as the national chairman of the APC on Thursday, August 3, alongside Ajibola Basiru as the party's national secretary.
