Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has reacted to the decision by Private schools to ask for extra fees.

Giving a response at the Presidential Taskforce on COVID19 on Friday, the Minister said those matters were not their concern.

In fact, he said it was not within the Ministry's purview as they were only concerned with the syllabus and curriculum.

He advised parents to sort it out with the schools since it is a private entity and not a public school.

"I am not sure we can intervene in the matter of private schools charging for extra fees. If schools reopen and want to run online and asked for a particular fee; that is within the domain of the contracting part. It is not within our jurisdiction but the contracting parties. We are involved with the syllabus, licensing and delivery in terms of learning outcomes," Nwajiuba said.
