Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South senatorial district, has expressed concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

He claimed the cabinet is bloated and believes that every individual appointed as minister will fail because the president does not have the fundamentals.

The former deputy governor of Abia State lamented the economic challenges in the country, which have had immense effects on the citizens.

Abaribe described Nigeria as a poor country with massive debts. He expected the president to structure his government in a cost-effective manner without injuring the public purse.

He mentioned that while Nigerians are wallowing in poverty and hardship, the government is spending lavishly while telling the citizens to be patient.

Abaribe said, “There are fundamentals that the president ought to have taken into consideration, even before constituting his cabinet and deciding on his economic direction. Failure to deal with those fundamentals is where we are. It doesn’t matter who is put there. Put an Einstein there; he will still fail.

What are the fundamentals? First, we are a poor country with massive debt over hang. What do you do when you’re poor? You cut your coat according to your size. But we came in and the first thing is to bloat your cabinet, which means the cost of governance is not going down. Everybody in this country expects that you should be able to shrink," Abaribe said this during an interview with Arise Television.
