President Muhammadu Buhari has been presented with some gold bars and precious stones that were mined in Nigeria.

The presentation was made after the president received a briefing about the solid minerals and mining potentials in Zamfara.

A statement from the government disclosed that the briefing occurred at the state house in Abuja.

The presentation was made after the Nigerian president received a briefing from Governor Bello Matawalle about the solid minerals and mining potentials in Zamfara.

A tweet from the government disclosed that the briefing occurred at the state house in Abuja.

"Yesterday, President @MBuhari Buhari received briefing from Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State on Solid Minerals and Mining Potentials in Zamfara. After which the President was presented with some gold bars and precious stones at the State House, Abuja," the tweet read.

The gold bars and precious stones were produced in Zamfara state.

Legit.ng recalls that as part of the efforts to revive the mining industry in Nigeria, President Buhari on Thursday, July 16, presided over a virtual meeting where the Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Development Initiative (PAGMDI) project was launched.

PAGMDI, it is understood, will hopefully provide no fewer than 250,000 jobs and over $500m annually in royalties and taxes to the federal government

According to a statement released by Femi Adesina, presidential aide on media and publicity to the president, the initiative will combat illegal mining activities and present expressed hope for the country in the nearest future.

In another news report, a member of the House of Representative, Farah Dagogo, has berated the Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Development Initiative (PAGMDI).

Dagogo, the lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny federal constituency in described PAGMDI as a semantics for resource control, designed to favour a particular part of the country.

The lawmaker said the whole idea behind PAGMDI is a smokescreen perfected to enable miners to become fully responsible for the sale and distribution of their natural resources (gold) in their areas unlike what is obtainable in the south.

Meanwhile, the Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar has said that those criticising President Buhari`s administration are corrupt minded and unpatriotic.

Abubakar disclosed this during a meeting with members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) social media group northwest zone in Dutse, The Nation reported.

According to Abubakar, the Buhari-led administration has done well to meet the aspirations of Nigerians when it comes to the number of projects executed across the country.
