Former Senator, Shehu Sani, has urged Nigerians to learn from the travails of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Taking to his social media page to pen down his thoughts, Sani noted that Emefiele was known to have several powerful and influential friends.

According to him, since his troubles began, he has been neglected and deserted by these people, saying that the problems are his to face.

"The Former CBN Governor used to have many friends in high places or so he thought, and they all disappeared in his moments of travails. The troubles are his, but the lesson is for all," Shehu Sani posted on X on Wednesday, November 8.

Emefiele was appointed in 2014 by then-President Goodluck Johnathan to head the central bank of Africa’s biggest economy.

He became the second-longest-serving governor of the bank after his tenure was renewed by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, President Tinubu suspended Godwin Emefiele and was taken into custody by the Nigeria’s secret police, the State Security Service (SSS).

Three months after his suspension, Emefiele resigned as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria following the investigation into the charges of illegal possession of a firearm and live ammunition.

After some appearances in court, on November 8, a federal high court in Abuja granted him bail.

Reacting to the post by Shehu Sani, some Nigerians took to his comment section to share their thoughts;

@nnamanieric0: People only associate with you in your good days but when problems come you will know who is your true friends.

@shameeil: Indeed Sir people need to learn who love em not when in power but when in struggle

@agbajoseph_: We all need to take one or two pieces from his travails that people come close to u not because they like u but because of the position u occupy

@Kotosiafaze: Nothing last forever and when that time comes that you have no power anymore, all the sycophants, all the praise and sing groupies will disappear. You will be left with yourself and history to judged you, just like history is recording that the biggest black nation on earth is been ruled by an Identity theft, certificate forger, money bad for drug dealers, civilian with bullion Van, etc it’s accountable

@SecretDiary: Oh look, the former Central Bank Governor played a real-life game of 'Guess Who?' with his powerful friends. Spoiler Alert: When the going got tough, turns out his 'friends' were tougher to find than a penny stock's profits.

@abona1000: Water go find him level.. Power is transient.. The only friend you have is truly family.
