'Portable' dupes night club owner 790K

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Illorin have arrested a Disc Jockey, Famotemi Toluwani Timothy for allegedly impersonating singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as “Portable”

In a statement on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, stated that the suspect was arrested on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Timothy allegedly created an Instagram account with the name “Zazoo Omolalomi Portable” where he claimed to be the singer.

He met one of his victims, Adebayo Adedimeji Lukman, running a Club in Offa, Kwara State, on Instagram and introduced himself as “Portable” and bargained to perform at the Club for the sum of N1 million naira.

The suspect asked for 80 percent of the money to be paid before the event, and Adebayo reportedly paid the sum of N790,000 into a bank account number provided by the suspect.

However, the self-styled artiste, 'Portable' was nowhere to be found on the day of the event, and he blocked all means of communication with the suspect.

“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.
