Popular Onitsha-based cleric Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Prophet Odumeje, has said the 2027 general elections will be a time when Nigerians must decide whether the country belongs to politicians or the people.
Addressing his congregation in Onitsha, the outspoken preacher criticised Nigeria's political class and accused supporters of President Bola Tinubu of putting personal interests ahead of the nation's future.
"Come 2027, we shall decide whether the country is owned by you politicians or we the people," he said.
Odumeje also questioned the leadership style of elected officials, saying those entrusted with power should know how to communicate with and serve the people.
"A person who leads people must know how to talk to the people. Have you seen people who do not have a conscience?" he asked.
Referring to President Tinubu, the cleric added: "Your President Tinubu confessed that even before he was born, Nigerians were living with hunger."
Odumeje also criticised those backing the President, claiming they were "selling the future of our country because of money," and urged Nigerians to vote with the country's future in mind when they head to the polls in 2027.
He further accused some politicians of prioritising wealth accumulation over their own duties.
"There are politicians who are in power only for themselves and their families and how much they can acquire. After this election, if they win, they will stay and continue looting. If not, they will carry the money they have already acquired and travel to any country of their choice and live in splendour," he said.
