A video showing the moment three police officers assaulted an unidentified man has emerged on Twitter.

The video shows the armed officers hitting the victim with huge logs of wood in an attempt to stop him from accessing a motorcycle that was being driven by one of the officers.

The victim who had a bloodied face made several attempts to hold the motorcycle in what is suspected to be the officers impounding his bike.

The video shared by a tweep with the handle @Afobowale was captioned: "Happened today at Oja Oba, Ogundele street, close to Abule Egba under bridge."

It comes after Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat singer, Fela Kuti was seen in a video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

Seun was arrested on Monday, May 15 after Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba had ordered his detention on Saturday.

It is not clear what caused the altercation but an agitated Kuti could be seen pushing the surprised policeman before hitting him in the face, twice.

The musician has tweeted that he would give "full cooperation" to any investigation.

His action drew widespread condemnation from Nigerians, with many calling for his immediate arrest and prosecution.

Slapping a police officer is a serious offence in Nigeria, and if charged and found guilty, he risks three years in jail.

Kuti is the last child of Fela and leads his father's former Egypt 80 band.

In 2020, he announced a revival of his father's defunct political party - Movement of the People - but was unable to register it with authorities.
