Policeman, pregnant woman shot as gunmen abduct two in FCT

An unidentified policeman and a pregnant woman were shot on Wednesday when gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted two men in Kwaita community in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

The injured persons were rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Mariam Yusuf, confirmed the incident, adding that the police rescued a victim after a fire fight with the kidnappers.

“We rescued a kidnap victim during the attack, while one of our men was injured,” she said on Thursday.

This is happening six days after gunmen abducted a man and his brother-in-law at Gbazango Extension 2, Kubwa, Abuja.

The gang invaded the residence of their victim identified as Mr Peter and whisked him away along with his brother-in-law at 12am.

The hoodlums also shot two vigilante members who attempted to foil their operation.

The Vice Chairman of the Extension 2 community, Mr John Oladipo, confirmed to our correspondent on Thursday that the victims had been released.

“They were released on Tuesday,” he explained.
