Police officers allegedly shoot at Lagos bus drivers protesting extortion by agberos

A video is making rounds of police officers allegedly shooting at commercial bus drivers who are protesting the extortion by touts (agberos).

The recent protest by the drivers was as a result of the recent increment in the taxes levied on them by the agberos.

According to the drivers, they are usually made to pay tax of N2,000 per day but it has now been increased to N2,500 daily.

Their protest which began on Wednesday, March 29, has also left many passengers stranded as only few buses are plying the roads.

On Thursday, March 30, there are reports alleging that the police officers shot at the protesting drivers.

Photos and videos of some bullets, a magazine was also discovered on the streets.
