In a tragic incident, Police Inspector Hussaini Umar was murdered by suspected members of a "one chance" syndicate in Abuja.
Umar, attached to the Force Intelligence Bureau (FID), was reportedly targeted after boarding the gang's vehicle from Maitama Junction to his home in Dei-Dei community on Friday.
Sources reveal that Inspector Umar was stabbed by the robbers and subsequently dumped near a bridge close to the NNPC Junction in Kubwa. Tragically, another vehicle ran over him before a police patrol team was alerted by concerned motorists. Despite being rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The remains of the deceased have been transported to Zaria from the hospital for burial. A police official in the convoy, who requested anonymity, confirmed the details of the attack and the subsequent fatal accident.
The spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, was unable to confirm the incident at the time but promised to investigate and provide further information.
This incident underscores the growing concerns over the activities of "one chance" syndicates in the Federal Capital Territory and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address these crimes.
