Police drags Naira Marley to court over Abuja concert

Controversial Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, has been arraigned to court by the Lagos state police command today August 6, for defying COVID-19 ban on interstate travels during the lockdown period.

Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, had earlier in June, flew from Lagos to Abuja for a drive-in concert at the Jabi Lake Mall.

Social Media went wide with backlashes after videos from the show surfaced, showing Fashola's fans flouting all COVID-19 protocols.

Asides sealing the mall up, the Federal government shut down the operations of the airline that flew the singer and his crew to Abuja for the concert.

According to reports, Naira Marley responded to the police's invitation today and was then taken to court.

In April, Naira Marley also had a run in with the Lagos state government after he attended the birthday party of actress Funke Akindele's husband at their home in Amen Estate.

He was arraigned in court alongside a former governorship candidate in the state, Babatunde Gbadamosi. The state government dropped the charges against them after they apologized.
