Police declare Sowore wanted for trying to destabilise Lagos

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, has declared that Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate, is wanted for allegedly planning a protest to destabilise Lagos.

This was after Sowore joined a group of protesters decrying the demolition of their properties in the Oworonshoki area of Lagos, on Monday.

MyNigeria learnt that the protesters were dispersed by police operatives who fired shots and teargas at them.

Addressing newsmen, CP Jimoh said, "I hereby, as the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state police Command, declare Sowore wanted for the act of causing disturbance of public peace."

Reacting, Sowore said the CP has refused to pick up his calls, but pointed out that he plans on visiting the police boss soon.

He shared on X, "The Lagos Police Commissioner, Moshood Jimoh, has reportedly declared me 'wanted' for 'disturbance of public peace', allegedly as a result of his officers' inability to execute a 'shoot on sight' order given by his illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun in Oworonsoki today.

"Despite my repeated attempts to contact Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG Commissioner Jimoh, he has not taken my calls; nevertheless, I plan to meet with him soon to address his declaration."
