The Ogun State Police have arrested two members of a suspected armed robbery gang while carrying out an operation.

The suspects, Olaitan Olushola, aka Toshiba; and Oluwajuwon Balogun, were arrested on Sunday, October 18, 2020 while allegedly terrorising the residents of Ogijo in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said this in a statement on Monday.

Oyeyemi said Olushola and Balogun were caught in the act.

According to him, the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by the Ogijo Divisional Headquarters that the gang members were operating at the Malatori area of Ogijo.

The PPRO stated, “They (suspects) were dispossessing residents of their valuables at gunpoint.

“Upon the distress call, the DPO, Ogijo Division, CSP Muhammed Baba, quickly led his men to the scene, where the two of them were apprehended, while others escaped with some of their weapons. Recovered from the two arrested members of the gang are two battle axes.

“Two of their victims, Idowu Kareem and Akinloye Raimi, have identified the duo as members of the syndicate, who dispossessed them of their phones at gunpoint.”

Oyeyemi added that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

“The CP also directed that the fleeing members of the gang be hunted down and brought to justice,” he said.
