Police arrest two, investigating assault on female teenager in viral video

The police command in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital has confirmed the arrest of two persons while it is currently investigating a viral video of a young lady being assaulted in the state.

This was made known in a tweet in the early hours of Saturday, October 22.

"Sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa state, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case.
It is gratifying to state that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case," the tweet reads.

There have been mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media to the tweet.

Recall, that a viral video of a lecturer and his children allegedly beating and stripping a young woman naked sparked outrage on social media since it emerged.

According to several reports, the victim who is identified as Blessing Mathias reportedly fought the daughter of the lecturer over a man.

Linda Ikeji said Mr. Ayokhai lectures at the History and International Relations department of the Federal University.

In the video, the father and children as they instructed her to kneel while she was caned.

Blessing, who was outnumbered pleaded for mercy but she was violated even more.

A feminine voice could be heard saying “flog her, flog her" in the background.

After the family had beaten Blessing, they moved her into their car and stripped her naked by cutting off her clothes.

In the Linda Ikeji Blog reports, before Blessing was attacked, she had beaten the lecturer's daughter, Emmanuella, for attempting to snatch her lover.

Their fight continued after she found out that Nuella had her boyfriend's number on her telephone, which she refused to delete.

Blessing gathered her companions to beat Emmanuella, slapping and hitting her from various points while demanding she erases the number.

Days after the fight, Emmanuella in the company of her dad, Fred Ekpe Ayokhai, and his sibling, Praise Shola, and others counter-attacked.
