Peremobowei Ebebi, a former deputy governor of Bayelsa state, has been arrested by the police over alleged involvement in the abduction of a former Nigerian envoy to Venezuela, Felix Oboro.

The Nation reports that the former deputy governor is a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming National Assembly by-election in the state.

Legit.ng gathered that in his reaction, Ebebi confirmed that he was invited by the police over the alleged claim by Oboro, describing the claim as a lie and a politically-motivated allegation against his person.

The newspaper noted that though Ebebi was released after a few hours on bail, his arrest was based on a petition filed by Oboro.

Oboro had in the petition to the police said his kidnap and release from kidnappers’ den after the payment of N11million ransom had revealed how Ebebi orchestrated his kidnap over a land dispute in September last year.

The ex-envoy, who spent 23 days in captivity, was abducted on September 4, 2019, at his country home at Elemebiri.
