Police arrest ‘ESN chief priest’ in Imo, recover bomb, other weapons

The police command in Imo State on Tuesday said it has arrested one Ikechukeu Umaefulem, suspected to be Chief Priest of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, the security wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

This was disclosed in a statement issued and made available to newsmen by the Imo Police Public Relations Officer, Micheal Abattam in Owerri the state capital.

The PPRO said the suspect was arrested in Orlu the alleged training center of the ESN operatives.

The spokesman revealed that some dangerous weapons including one pump action gun with five rounds of live cartridges, one improvised explosive device, knockouts, gun powder, Biafran flag and other spiritual items in like manner were recovered from the suspect during the operation.

“When his spiritual home and premises were searched, the following items were recovered, they are, One pump action gun with five rounds of live cartridges, One Improvised Explosives Device, Knockouts, Gun Powder, Biafran Flag and other spiritual items.

“Meanwhile, the arrested spiritualist is in custody, undergoing interrogation and is assisting the police tremendously with information that will lead to the discovery of the remnants of their camps and arrest of other members of the group in hiding”, the statement added.
