The Police Service Commission (PSC) has reinstated at least 10 police officers who were sacked by the Force over various offences.

The reinstatement decision was taken at the 17th Plenary which ended in Abuja on Friday, November 11, 2022 and presided over by its Acting Chairman, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi.

Acting Chairman of PSC, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi (Rtrd), told journalists in Abuja on Thursday, November 17, that the commission went through the appeals from 18 police officers and only 10 could be reinstated.

While the commission converted the dismissal of the two personnel to retirement, six appeals were rejected for lack of merit.

Ogunbiyi who revealed that the commission would ensure no officer is unjustly punished, also announced that the commission had approved the promotion of 48 staff members of the PSC.

She said; “The Commission will continue to ensure that appeals and petitions by aggrieved or dismissed police officers will be treated with dispatch so that no police officer is unjustly punished as a result of unnecessary delay.

“The promotions of staff of the Commission will remain prompt and regular but called for reciprocity from the staff by improved commitment in the discharge of their duties.

“There is a lot of work to be done in the Commission and demanded for greater dedication from all staff.”
