Akanbi Elizabeth, the widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, broke down in tears during an emotional tribute at a memorial event held at the Jogor Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Struggling to complete her speech, the grieving widow addressed her late husband, pleading with him not to abandon her and their children.
"Toluwanisings, my dear husband. I will forever miss you. Please do not forget your children and I," she said.
Toluwanisings passed away in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping at his home. His sudden death has since been compounded by a public dispute between his widow and his paternal family regarding his final resting place.
While Elizabeth reportedly favoured a church or cemetery burial ground, the singer's father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, and paternal uncle, Lawal Ademola, expressed a desire to bury him at his own residence or in Ikirun, Osun State, where his late mother was laid to rest.
The disagreement has sparked mixed reactions and intense discussion across social media.
Amid the ongoing burial controversy, uncle Lawal Ademola appealed to government and law enforcement authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the singer's sudden death during an interview with media personality Dunmininu.
Meanwhile, the entertainment community continues to mourn the late artiste, with prominent Nollywood stars, including Funke Akindele, Muyiwa Ademola, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Jumoke Odetola, Mo Bimpe, Faithia Williams, Eniola Badmus, and Adeniyi Johnson, sharing heartfelt tributes and expressing shock over his passing.
