The Plateau State Government has further relaxed the curfew earlier imposed on Jos North Local Government Area following the return of relative peace after the Angwan Rukuba attacks, Rep9ja reports.
The adjustment was made in consultation with security agencies.
The new curfew hours will take effect from Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Under the new directive, residents are allowed to move freely from 6am to 6pm daily.
The government stated that the dusk-to-dawn curfew from 6pm to 6am remains in force. Citizens were urged to carry out their lawful activities within the relaxed hours. They were also advised to strictly observe the curfew period.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang directed all security agencies to enforce the curfew. The directive is aimed at ensuring the protection of lives and property. It is also intended to restore calm in affected areas. Residents were advised to remain indoors during curfew hours.
They were further urged to cooperate with security agencies. The government also called on the public to provide useful information that would support efforts to maintain peace and order.
The directive was contained in a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, on April 7, 2026.
