Plateau declares May 4th lockdown-free day

Plateau State Government has declared Monday, 4th of May as a lockdown-free day to celebrate workers day.

Recall that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.) announced the beginning of an 8pm-6am nationwide curfew to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

According to a statement on the state government's official Twitter handle, @PLSGov, the governor, Simon Lalong, made the decision after an appeal was made by a cross-section of the state's citizens.

"In the spirit of the 2020 May Day Celebrations, and in response to appeals by a cross-section of Plateau State citizens, @sblalong has granted that Monday 4th May 2020 be observed as Lockdown-free day.

"Consequently, the total lockdown earlier announced will commence on Tuesday 5th May 2020," the statement read.

While other states, except Kano, will begin the nationwide curfew on Monday, 4th of May, Plateau will begin theirs 24-hours later.

Kano has been placed on total lockdown by the president, MyNigeria.com reported during the week.
