Big Brother Naija Level Up Winner Ijeoma Otabor, better known as Phyna, has criticised the press statement released by Dangote Group after one of the company's trucks crushed her sister, rendering her an amputee.
The victim, Ruth Otabor, was crushed by the truck just six days after she graduated from a higher institution in Edo. She was rushed to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State, where one of her legs was amputated, with reports indicating that the other leg may suffer the same fate.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Dangote Group announced that its officials had visited Otabor at the hospital, confirming that full support was being provided for her.
"Following the recent road accident in Auchi, Edo State, involving one of our trucks, which sadly resulted in injury to Mrs. Ruth Otabor, senior officials from Dangote Cement Plc, together with our Insurance team, promptly visited the scene, engaged with law enforcement authorities, and visited the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.
"This action reflects our unwavering commitment to the well-being of those affected. We are ensuring full support for Mrs. Otabor, including comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation, in line with Dangote Group's welfare policy.
Our thoughts remain with Mrs. Ruth Otabor and her loved ones, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery," the organisation said.
Reacting, Phyna wondered why the company wished her sister a speedy recovery from an amputated leg.
She wrote on X, “Appropriate compensation !!! Quick recovery from an already amputated leg? What necessary speed are you taking right now? Let’s not forget the Bike Man, who is also in critical condition.“
