Nigerian presidents have been known to wear the military uniforms during series of events regarding the army.

A military uniform is a standardised outfit worn by members of the armed forces and paramilitaries.

As it is known, the Nigerian presidents are the commanders-in-chief of the armed forces hence their military uniform appearances.

These heads of state are usually seen at functions in their traditional attires popularly known as agbada or kaftan with their woven hats to match and sometimes English suits.

Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari is an exception as he prefers traditional outfits more often than not. The last time he wore a suit was during the LAST electioneering campaign in 2015.

In this peice, we take a look back at the past presidents who have rocked the military uniform during their time in office as leader of the federal republic of Nigeria.

On the list are names including; Shehu Shagari, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, General Ibrahim Babangida, Major General Aguiyi Ironsi.
