The shooting at Lekki spooked the feathers of many Nigerians and global leaders.

After the unfortunate incident, there was a widespread call on the Buhari-led administration to manage the powers of the military in these sensitive times.

Amnesty International confirmed 12 people died from the incident, despite conflicting reports from the Lagos state government and eyewitnesses on the ground.

Many believe the shooting could be a catalyst to the second wave of protests as there have been reports of unrest in several parts of the country.

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by hoodlums.

In the diaspora, protests erupted in Ghana's capital Accra, with hundreds of Nigerians living in the West African country converging at the Nigerian High Commission.

Some protesters who spoke to MyNigeria.com correspondent accused the government of sponsoring terrorism.

Meanwhile, Nigerian in the United States gathered at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York to register their displeasure.

Carrying placards while they wrapped themselves with the Nigerian flag, the protesters sang the national anthem as they made their way to the UN office.
