Nigerians living in Ghana, as well as Ghanaians, converged at the Nigerian High Commission Tuesday, October 21 to protest the recent killings of several peaceful protesters at Lekki toll gate.

The shooting happened a few hours after the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced a curfew in the state.

Unknown men from the Nigerian Army was alleged to have carried out the dastardly act.

Reports say the CCTV cameras were disconnected in the afternoon prior to the attacks.

They also turned off all street lights before they opened fire on the protesters, according to an Instagram Live video from the venue of the incident.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Government has asked citizens to remain “understanding” and “calm” after peaceful anti-police brutality protesters were shot and killed around the country on Tuesday.

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhamamdu Buhari, made the comments in a statement on Tuesday, says Sahara Reporters.

He said, “Reeling out the steps he claimed have so far been taking to address the demands of the protesters.

“The Presidency appeals for understanding and calm across the nation, as the implementation of the reforms gathers pace at federal and state levels.

“The Presidency wishes to reiterate the full commitment of the Buhari administration to the implementation of lasting police reforms in Nigeria.
