The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress, APC, for failing to rescue the North out of poverty.

In a video making rounds, Peter Obi tackled former President Muhammadu Buhari for leaving the north where he hails from in abject poverty despite serving as leader for eight years.

He said this on Thursday, September 21, during the Governorship Campaign Flagoff of Barrister Adejoh Okeme in Lokoja, Kogi state.

Addressing the crowd, Obi asked the residents to go and verify the credentials of the Labour Party governorship candidate and note that he is the right person for their job.

In his remark, Obi jabbed President Tinubu following the recent legal battle over his academic qualifications.

Obi said;

"Let me tell you, there is more poverty in the north, Buhari was there for eight years, there is more insecurity in the north, he was there for eight years and that is what is happening now. The problem will be solved when you choose to do the right vote. Our candidate has told you who he is, he has told you the school he went to, I say go and verify. That is what we are doing in Labour. We are not saying we are the best, we are professors. But we can tell you the primary school we went to, the secondary school we went to. And if you want we can show you our classmates. We are not claiming what we are not. What we are claiming is what we are."
