Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has dismissed rumors suggesting a rift between him and Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party's presidential candidate for 2023.

Earlier reports claimed that the Olubadan was upset after Obi extended his congratulations on the installation ceremony, referring to him as “my dear brother.”

Critics such as Oriyomi Hamzat, Reno Omokri, and Lere Olayinka argued that such a salutation was inappropriate when addressing a monarch.

In response, Oba Ladoja, through a phone conversation confirmed by Prof. Pius Abioje, stated that there is no hostility or ill will between himself and Obi.

“No, who said that? Why should I be angry with Peter Obi calling me his brother and friend? Am I not his brother and friend?” the Olubadan said.
