Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has joined a coalition of civil society organisations, youth groups, and concerned citizens at the National Assembly to demand the immediate passage of the Electoral Amendment Bill.

The protesters are also demanding the provision of a mandatory electronic transmission of election results ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to them, the reform is necessary to improve transparency and restore public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process.

Members of the African Democratic Congress are still on the ground, including activist Aisha Yesufu.

The gathering has remained peaceful so far, with security personnel including a combined team of the Police, Army and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
