A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Reno Omokri has described Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, as tribalistic.

In a post shared on his X page, Omokri noted that Obi is not sufficiently detribalised to govern a multiethnic nation like Nigeria.

According to him, anything that happens outside Igboland, the former Anambra state Governor is quick to react and condemn meanwhile he goes quiet when incidents occur within his home state.

The former presidential aide who has been known for his criticisms on Peter Obi cited the recent bombing incident that took place in Kaduna.

He noted that Peter Obi hurriedly condemned the Nigerian Army for bombing innocent residents while neglecting to comment on the two people who were burnt in Onitsha, his hometown.

Omokri also stated that Obi refused to react to the demolishing of structures in Anambra state but commented on the Lagos state demolition exercise.

He wrote on his X page on Tuesday, December 5;

"Peter Obi is not sufficiently detribalised to govern a multiethnic nation like Nigeria. He is too tribalistic.

Look at him condemning the bombing of innocent Nigerians in Kaduna by the Nigerian Army. But a month ago, when Chinedu and Omama were burnt in Onitsha, his hometown, Peter Obi refused to condemn it the way he condemned the burning of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto on May 12, 2022.

Last week, he condemned Lagos' demolition of illegal structures. But when Anambra demolished illegal structures, Peter Obi said nothing.

If it happens outside Igboland, Peter Obi will shout loud and cry and dance naked. But if it occurs in the Southeast, Peter Obi pretends not to see it!"

His post attracted several reactions from social media users who supporters his claim.

@holorunbiggest: Obi will never condemn this incident and jungle justice. He’s an hypocrite of the highest,a very tribalistic man.

@isaacoladipupo_: A man that is afraid to speak the truth, can he governor a country? What a shame

@BalogunREADONE: The earlier the better PO knows that what he need mostly now is the consistent engagement of those areas and regions that he is Barely known or never had the opportunity to meet PO in person. All this empathetic criticism will not generate votes But a consistent engagement that will help to rebuild the political structure that doesn't exist for the party and also strengthening the sense of participation from all this area.. anything out of this, he should expect the same result next time too

@JDpolicy: He can never and I mean NEVER rule Nigeria

@yusuffolarenwa1: Peter Obi problem is that is always afraid to speak against his region.. So on this he can never Rule a country like Nigeria.. God bless you Oga Reno for shedding more light on Peter Obi thru color
