Reno Omokri, a former presidential media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan has likened followers of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party to the followers of Big Brother Naija housemates.

In a post on his official Instagram page, Reno said that the common characteristics shared by followers of both groups of people are their ability to trend on social media and later become hostile to anyone who doesn't agree with their position on issues.

According to him, the groups of followers are dominant on social media, however, they lack the grit to continue their agenda as they end up fading in time.

Reno, who is an ardent critic of the Labour Party candidate believes the supporters of Obi, who has gained massive traction on social media are just "catching cruise".

His posts read: "Peter Obi is like #BBNaija housemates. Both will trend online and generate excitement. Their fans will fight anyone that does not fanatically agree with them. Until after Election Day, or the next BBNaija season. Then, they will gradually FADE AWAY!"

"Wisemen and women are just using Peter Obi and #BBNaija to catch cruise. Professional activists who feel irrelevant if they are not part of any trend are cashing in. Obidients are seeing it and prematurely celebrating their victory, forgetting that 190 million Nigerians are not on Twitter"

Meanwhile, vice president candidate of the party Senator Yusuf Datti Ahmed has called on their supporters to remain focused on their campaign.

Datti charged all their supporters known as Obidients not to be distracted by the TV reality show, Big Brother Naija season seven.

Peter Obi and his party are enjoying the support of youths on social media.

Meanwhile, Big Brother Naija season seven which has a larger number of youths as audience commenced on Saturday.

There are speculations that the show will take attention of the youths and they would consequently abandon the Peter Obi movement.

In a tweet by the Vice President candidate of LP on Saturday, he urged the supporters to remain focused.

He tweeted, “Dear #Obidients please don’t be distracted with the new season of the Tv show #BBNaija, we have a battle ahead of us.”
