People underrated me because I dance but I shocked them - Gov Adeleke speaks after Supreme Court ruling

Osun state Governor Ademola Adeleke has spoken after the Supreme Court declared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate as the validly elected Governor.

On Tuesday, May 9, Justice Emmanuel Agim, of the apex court dismissed an appeal lodged against Adeleke’s election victory by the former governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In his lead delivery, Agim held that Oyetola failed to produce any Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, BVAS, a machine that was used in any of the polling units to prove his allegation that Adeleke won through over-voting that occurred in 774 polling units in the state.

He also dismissed evidence of purported expert witnesses that testified in Oyeyola’s favour.

“It is glaring that the Appellant did not provide in evidence, any BVAS, but sought to prove over-voting by means of a report of examination of INEC’s database or backend server,” the Justice said.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday evening, Adeleke said people indeed underrated him.

According to him, although he was seen dancing all the time, he continues to work for the good of the people of Osun state.

He dispelled all claims of him not having to have an education as he said he is a US trained, and he went to school.

Adeleke said that his dancing is as a result of his hobby and he wanted to become a musician but made his way into politics instead but he is proud his nephew, Davido and his son B-red followed in his footsteps.

Responding to Seun Okinbaloye, he said;

“I feel underrated, everyone has their own hobby. My own hobby is to dance. I’m supposed to be a musician but I thank God my nephew Davido, my son B-red, Shina Rambo, they took after me, they are now singing and making waves. That’s my hobby I love to dance.

I demonstrated that when I was in the senate, I kept my promises and now they even said I cannot debate, I cannot talk, I cannot do this, but I surprised them.

And now again, a lot of people who have been thinking that I may not be a good governor because I dance, they are now dancing, all of them are now dancing because that is my strength.

People love me because I’m not a pretender. I’m US trained, I went to school, but when it comes to my work, I even like it that I’m underrated. When I’m underrated then I hit them. Now they know they cannot underrate me anymore because I have shown them what I’ve got. I’ve shown them what I can do for my people, I’ve shown them good government, I’ve shown them and I’ve demonstrated it in my 100 days.”
