Pay ransom and take action later - Sheik Gumi advices El-Rufai

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has called on the Kaduna State government to pay ransom for the release of abducted greenfield students. Gumi speaking on Kaduna Governor’s insistence not to negotiate said no money is too big to save the lives of students.

He urged Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s to pay the ransom then go after the abductors as well as retrieve the ransom after the students are saved.

Sheikh Gumi during an interview with AIT on Tuesday said, ”Five souls were killed. Why? What amount of money is too big for us to save the lives of those five students, what amount of money?

“Secondly, we can give them the money to get the boys out of danger then go after our money. Nobody is saying you should not find them, you can get the two back. “

The Islamic cleric wondered the idea behind the government insisting on not negotiating yet not taking action about the abductions. “To say you will not negotiate with them and also not take action against them, I cannot understand that,” Gumi said.

Meanwhile, there is anxiety among Nigerians as the abductors of Greenfield students threatened to kill them on Tuesday if the government fails to meet their demand. Five out of 22 students have been killed.
