Dolapo Lawal, the lead pastor of Zoe Household Global, has apologized to Arsenal fans for describing the football club as "cursed".
Lawal is currently trending on social media after he had said in an earlier sermon that the English side would not win the league despite their dominance.
Speaking in a now-trending video on social media, the cleric made a U-turn on his earlier remark about the club and promised Arsenal fans a thanksgiving service across his church branches on Sunday.
“Arsenal fans, special thanksgiving for you in Zoe Household on Sunday. Come with your jersey. This is my apology, public apology, special thanksgiving service across all Zoe Household campuses. Praise God. Congrats,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that the clergyman had a month ago, during an exchange with his congregation while preaching, stated that Arsenal can’t win the Premier League.
While claiming that the club is cursed, he also advised ladies to avoid any Arsenal fans as suitors.
“Arsenal cannot win. Didn’t I say it? You were here when I said it. I said it three months ago that even if the gap is 29 points, Arsenal cannot win. There’s a way you will watch a club, you don’t need prophet. And peradventure if you are here as a lady, if an Arsenal fan should ask you out, it’s a bad sign. You need to check yourself,” he said.
