Parents whose children are attending basic education schools in Katsina are expected to save N41m daily or N820m monthly from the home-grown school feeding programme introduced by the Federal Government under the National Social Intervention Program, NSIP

The Special Adviser to Governor Masari on Social Interventions, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, who made the above disclosure at Government House Katsina, during the inauguration of the committee for the enumeration of primary school pupils in classes 1 to 3 for the homegrown school feeding programme, also stated that the programme, which is designed for 834,000 pupils in the state has 10,667 food vendors deployed to cook plus 2 aggregators.

He maintained that the programme is expected to cover 2,777 schools in the state.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, in his remark at the occasion, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for impacting positively and ensuring social parity amongst the poorest of the poor Nigerians.

He further noted that President Buhari’s administration has ensured social inclusiveness and a stable social security network through the National Social Intervention Programme, NSIP and other policies.

He said, “No government has impacted positively on the lives of the people like that of Buhari, he has brought people on board; people who have never seen or own N5000 in their lives.”

“This level of inclusiveness through the NSIP project will be the foundation for future social security systems, as obtainable in other countries.

“In Katsina, enrolment into schools has doubled; there is an improvement in the level of youth restiveness through N-power as replicated in S-power in the state. This is the kind of intervention that sees the end of children roaming the streets and tackles out of school syndrome.”

Earlier, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajia Saadiya Umar Farouk, represented by a deputy director in the ministry, Bala Mohammed, outlined the four unique clusters that were integrated to provide the maximum impact of the programme.
