Opeyemi Alaba, the painter behind the portrait of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu unveiled at Eagles Square, said the painting will be sold and the proceeds will be used to feed 250,000 Nigerians.

Alaba, speaking to TVC on the sidelines after Democracy Day, mentioned that his inspiration for the portrait came from other global icons such as Queen Elizabeth and former US President Barack Obama. He believes the portrait can communicate a message of hope to Nigerians while also serving as an identity for the African continent.

His goal is to have the portrait officially recognized as the world's largest portrait on canvas before selling it.

"We are selling it, and the proceeds will go to feeding 250,000 Nigerians. Our plan is to provide 50,000 naira to Nigerians monthly from June to October. These portraits will set a global record and will be considered the most expensive painting in the world," he stated in the TVC interview.

The federal government described it as the world's largest portrait on canvas.

TVC journalist Nifemi Oguntoye in a post on X said the portrait measures 64 by 32 feet.

"The portrait, measuring 64 by 32 feet, was created by 37 artists, each representing a state in Nigeria and the FCT, to honor President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The unveiling of the world’s largest human portrait painted on canvas at the Eagles Square," he wrote.

The portrait, created by 37 artists representing each state in Nigeria and the FCT, was a tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu celebrated his first Democracy Day as President, marking Nigeria's 25th since the fourth republic.
