The Jigawa State Chapter of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) on Monday distributed foods items to 100 wives of deceased police officers, who lost their lives in the course of their official duties.

Chairperson of the Jigawa State Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) Maryam Gomna said: “This assistance is a COVID-19 palliative to be shared to 100 widows.”

Mrs Gomna said “the palliatives are 100 packaged food items donated by the state to the police command to relieve the hardship suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic”.

“This association (POWA) has resolved to give the food items to the widows among them who lost their husbands in the course of their duties.”

She said there are over 400 widows in the command, “we selected 100 now and when some things came we also selected from those who did not benefit."
