Operatives of the Enugu State zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 14 suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa and Anambra.

The suspects who are between the ages of 21 – 28 years were nabbed at Okpuno Awka, Agu Awka and Ngozika estate on Monday August 31.

According to reports, three Mercedes Benz 4matic, three Mercedes Benz AMG and two Lexus Rx salon cars were recovered from the suspects.

EFCC Head of Media, Dele Oyewale said in a statement;

“Interim analyses of some of the suspects’ phones indicated they were involved in some suspected internet fraud which, include online bitcoin scam, love scam and identity theft”

He added that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

On Friday, August 28, 2020 the Port Harcourt Zonal office also confirmed the arrest of nine suspected internet fraudsters.

According to a statement released by the anitgraft agency, the suspects were apprehended in an early morning raid on their hideout in Ozuoba by Obirikwere Road, Choba; NTA Road and Ada George Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Their names are Sotonye Orugbane, David Egbunugwu, Emmanuel Chinemerem, Providence Oliver Samuel and Emmanuel Fidelis Nwambu.

The others are Promise Nkwachi, Micah Nimi, Precious Ogadinma and Ebi Micah.

"Investigations indicate that the suspects specialize in love scam, online Bitcoin scam, identity theft, trading scam, among others." the statement read in part.
