One Million Boys One Million Boys

The coronavirus lockdown initiated by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) was for the sole purpose of curbing the spread of the deadly virus.

While many residents across Lagos and Ogun anticipated a rise in criminal activities due to the lockdown, the Nigerian government did not and to add salt to the injury, they did not respond to on time.

For those who do not believe that the outcry that the criminal activity is real, here's proof of one of the letters sent to residents informing them of a visit by a notorious group called the "One Million Boys".

"We are undefeated, One Million Boys are coming to visit your area very soon. so, make everybody prepare. If you don't comply we will cut your hand!"

Short but enough to send shock waves through the hearts of residents as the boldly written three-sentenced note had images of a gun and knife underneath.

It took a series of trends on Twitter and videos showing how residents protect themselves with cutlasses and any weapon available to them (no guns included) while engaging in vigilante works at night to ensure their families are safe.

As good as this initiative is on the part of locals, it is not safe and the government needs to ACT FAST.

Why? How can a non-skilled local who has only survival instinct and no experience as security personnel protect himself and gamily against a gun-wielding experienced group of criminals who are probably high on adrenaline booster during the operation?

Although President Buhari did no address this during his national address on Monday night, Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has however assured residents of actions put in place to address the issues.

www.mynigera.com hereby advises residents to ensure they don't stay out late, don't walk alone in the dark, ensure your houses are locked up at night and most importantly stay safe!
