PDP has resurrected, it's an Iroko tree with deep political roots - Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has said the party has resurrected after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held Tuesday in Abuja.

Describing the PDP as an Iroko tree with deep political roots, George rubbished claims that the main opposition party was going down.

“We have already done the resurrection today. An iroko tree doesn’t die, this party is an iroko tree because the tap root is so deep,” he said.

“The PDP NEC meeting was the realisation of the failures and things that we have done. This party is not a party for one individual, no individual can claim ownership of this party,” he said.

Further speaking, George lamented that some of the party members had strayed from the path set by the founding fathers.

“We have learnt a lesson and that lesson was the beginning of the meeting yesterday and today. What it reminded me of was the peak of our existence as a political party. I left the chambers feeling reinvigorated,” he said.

He concluded by urging PDP members to be selfless rather than selfish in their dealings with the party.

“We must perpetually build on selfless leaders. We must have more selfless leaders and fewer selfish leaders. That was resonating and what he said today,” George added
