The governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike recently clashed over the return of Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary.

According to reports, the PDP governors disagree with the planned return of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary of the party.

After his governorship loss, he presented the PDP NWC with a court order directing him to resume his office as national secretary.

The PDP governors however, rejected his move to avoid Wike assuming absolute control of the party’s leadership.

The acting national chairman of PDP, Ambassador Illya Damagum, on his part said until the conflicting court orders are resolved, Anyanwu would not assume office.

Report states that Wike disagreed, insisting they do not have the authority to declare who could occupy the office of national secretary of the party.

This leadership tussle in the PDP comes following the battle between Wike and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 election.
