Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike has expressed his desire to fully back his preferred presidential candidate ahead of the general election.

According to him, he noted that whoever he declares his support for will emerge the winner at the end of the February 25 poll.

Wike also called out critics who continue to hurl insults at him. He said that they cannot change his mind about working for his preferred candidate as the election draws near.

Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of the construction of Akpabu-Egbeda-Omoku Link Road in Egbeda, Emohua Local Government Area on Wednesday, January 4, Wike described his critics as people who cannot mobilise 25 votes in their constituencies for any candidate.

“If anybody likes, say what you want to say that I am working for so and so person, it’s their business, say that I am not working for so and so person, it’s their business, " Wike said.

The River state Governor's comment comes following the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the general election.

He alongside other members of the G-5 have declared their intentions to support other presidential candidates aside their principal following the decision of the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayo to remain in position as the leader of the party.
