Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dumped the largest opposition for the Labour Party to contest in the forthcoming Lagos Central Senatorial election.

The renowned social-political activist in a statement said his decision was based on the party's lack of internal democracy and in obedience to the call of Pa Ayo Adebanjo to support Peter Obi’s presidential bid.

Before he defected, the political commentator was a strong member of the PDP were he contested against Senator Oluremi Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2019 senatorial election in which he was narrowly defeated.

He said he is leaving the PDP with his numerous supporters, admirers, family and friends in and around Lagos Central Senatorial District as he fights to ensure a resounding victory for the LP in the coming general elections in Lagos State.

Onitiri, therefore, urged Nigerians to vote with conscience and wisely, saying: “Enough is enough. Vote out poverty, insecurity, diseases, corruption and bad governance. This is certainly not the type of democracy we fought for in 1993.”

He said that Nigeria was too sick to be trusted with old, nepotistic, tribalistic and expired politicians to govern.
