PDP: Atiku wanted to challenge Obasanjo in the 2003 presidential elections - Hauwa Atiku

Hauwa Atiku-Uwais, the Chairperson of the National Strategic Committee, PDP New Generation, and the daughter of the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar has revealed that her father was interested in contesting the 2003 presidential elections.

Hauwa who was speaking in an interview on Channels Television's political program, The Verdict 2023 on Tuesday, February 21 said he decided against pursuing his interest when his "boss", President Olusegun Obasanjo expressed his interest in seeking a second term.

She made the comment to buttress the point that her father always had the good of Nigerians at heart.

"Atiku expressed his ambition to run for the presidency and his boss expressed his own ambition to continue. So at that point, he felt that for the betterment of Nigeria he will allow his boss to continue and let down my own ambition and that there will be time in the future when I can offer himself to Nigerians"
