The Pan Niger Delta Forum has mourned the late rights activist, Tony Uranta, saying he was an advocate for peace, unity and sustainable development.

National Publicity Secretary of PANDEF, Ken Robinson, said this in a statement on Saturday. Robinson said the leadership and members of the forum were heavily saddened by Uranta’s passing.

The statement read in part, “By his sad demise, PANDEF and the South South geopolitical region and Nigeria have lost another brave and dependable voice in the volitions for a just and egalitarian nation.

“Tony Uranta was a strong advocate for peace, unity, social rights and sustainable development. A great mobilizer, he continuously rallied various persuasions to set people-centered agendas in the quest for a better Niger Delta and Nigeria.

“Tony was a tireless champion for human rights: a fervent and ingenious Compatriot, dogged and unflinching. He devoted his life to the service of humanity.”
