Oyigbo killings: Don’t generalize your anger on Igbo, CAN tells Wike

As controversies continue to follow the killings in Oyigbo in Rivers state, Governor Wike has been asked to tread with caution so as not to escalate the situation.

The call was made by Anambra state chapter of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Thursday in Onitsha in a press briefing.

According to tp the chairman, Rev. Dr. Ndubuisi John, Wike needs to avoid generalizing his anger towards Igbo race.

He urged him to govern with the wisdom of God as the Shepherd of the State.

He said that it is wrong for Wike to show his anger on the Igbo race. Going further, he encouraged him to act maturely as a governor who is occupying an exalted position.

Meanwhile, in his reaction, Daniel Galal, a social media user wrote:

"Na so Wike just enter for genocide terror on the Igbo list, now we have Oyibo massacre by Wike. History will always remember Wike on the role he played."Meanwhile, governors from the Southeast zone have accused a proscribed group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of trying to spark another civil war in Nigeria.

The governors made the accusation on Sunday night, November 8, after holding a meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.

The chairman of the southeast governors’ forum, David Umahi, who spoke on behalf of the governors, warned Igbo people to beware of IPOB members.

In another development, Wike signed an executive order to reinforce the ban on IPOB and its activities in the state.

The governor announced this on Wednesday night, October 28, via a statewide broadcast, he according to the statement released through his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri.

Wike maintained that while Rivers state remains the home to all tribes and ethnic nationalities, the government is opposed to the presence and activities of the legally proscribed IPOB and whatever it stands for.
