Over 250 Nigerians return home from the UAE

More than 250 Nigerian returnees have landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after a successful evacuation from the United Arab Emirates.

The flight conveying the 256 Nigerian nationals landed about 07.40pm on Wednesday, according to reports.

Although the returnees have reportedly tested negative before boarding the flight home, they are expected to be screened at the airport and then proceed into 14-day isolation.

Recall that MyNigeria.com informed you earlier that the flight had to make a u-turn after a woman, "Mrs Kafayat Amusan, one of the stranded Nigerians travellers, returning from Dubai, UAE, has been delivered of a baby boy onboard Emirates airline departing to Lagos," according to a press statement from NIDCOm.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, confirmed their arrival.

“The flight conveying 256 Nigerians evacuated from Dubai has landed Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” he said.

Nigerians in Diaspora Commission - NODCOM chairman, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa also welcomed the returnees.

“Welcome home! They will be proceeding to a location for compulsory isolation. All 256 tested negative for COVID-19 before boarding from Dubai,” she added.
