School children have been sighted along the route President Bola Tinubu would take on his way to condole with victims of the attack by suspected herders on Yelewata community, Benue State.
This is despite the state government declaring today a public holiday after over a hundred residents of Yeleweta were killed by armed herders a few days ago.
Videos trending on social media showed pupils and students in Makurdi, Benue State, lined by the side of roads to welcome the president.
This was despite rain falling on them and vehicles splashing puddle water on their clothes while they stood by the side of the roads.
Reacting, an X user, @DiViBUNTU, said, "I blame the parents who allowed their children to come out for this nonsense."
Another user, @dennisattah, said, "I hope the poor parents have money to treat fever??? Instead of challenging the school's directive, they cowered sadly. Zero balls."
@papatimi, said, "Look at the high level of discrimination in this country, children of the poor are made to line the roadside to welcome the president, while the children of the rich are reserved for the airport. This shows the utter disregard for human dignity under the @OfficialAPCNg administration."
@chinnyzinny5050 said, "Children of the poor have suffered in this country.. The more we shout and complain, the more they increase their wickedness. See children standing under the rain to do what exactly? This state and the governor have to be one of the most useless in history."
@AremoAmir said, "Shame on you, @officialABAT and every sycophant in Benue, including the governor, for doing this to our children. You could have done this charade without involving the children in this condition."
